Manuel Antonio Quepos Vacation Activities

Spanish Language School & TEFL

Many of my guests have combined their holiday vacation with taking a class to learn or improve their Spanish. I’ve listed the Spanish Language schools in Manuel Antonio. To make it easier to locate their proximity to Las Palmas, their respected numbers are identified on the Map Page:

Escuela D’Amore Spanish Language School has recently moved beside (23). About 200 yards from My Condo.

Cosi Spanish Language School (16)

SiSe Spanish Language School (26)

El Paraiso Language School (36)

Academia D'Amore Language School located on the cross road in front Cafe Milagro (7)

Tefl English Teaching Course located away from the tourist section past the New Banco Popular (not shown on the Quepos Map)

Local Live Entertainment

For the small size of Manuel Antonio, there are some exceptional quality entertainers. These artists will have you tapping your feet, clapping, singing and swaying. They probably all came for a short vacation and decided this is the place to stay. Here are some of the artists I have enjoyed listening to and wouldn’t feel my trip was complete without going and listening again.

Lance Bennett plays the harmonica wonderfully and produced 4 CDs. Lance has played with some of the great artists. Have a listen to:

I Remember You

Pura Vida Social Club has been playing Saturdays afternoon at Dos Locos. The members are Lance on harmonica, Letty on bass and Jim on rhythm guitar. They take turns singing and often have guest musicians joining them. When we were there Mike was on bongos and Dave on flute and percussion. They played blue grass, country and classic rock & roll. It was a fun afternoon - I've never seen Dos Locus so busy on a Saturday afternoon.

Lance, Letty & Jim at Dos Locos - Saturday Afternoon

Fuzzy Rojas has a fantastic Jazz voice. Fuzzy sings some of the standards. She has composed songs and in 2007 made her first CD. One of my favorites of Fuzzy’s jazz songs is Cyndi Lauper’s, Time After Time. David a guest performer who plays the flute is often invited to sit in for a few songs. His table was beside ours and when I told him I enjoyed his playing, one of the things he said was "If Fuzzy was playing in Las Vegas she'd be sold out every night."

Fuzzy & Leo - September 2007

BenJamin plays the electric guitar and sings the 60’s protest songs and the 70’s rock ‘n’ roll. He writes some of his own Lyrics. You can catch him Wednesdays at Dos Locos and Saturday at one of the Manuel Antonio beach Bars or in Jaco Beach. BenJamin has a great web page with samples of his music. He has compiled a CD.  Please have a look at his website.

BenJamin along with Lance, Letty, and Niven at Dos Locos

Barba Roja - A few nights a week Jordan, a Latin American sings and plays the guitar very nice Jazz and Pop. Definitely worth listening.

Bambu Jam Restaurant & Bar - Live Entertainment on Friday Nights. Good food and very busy on week-ends. Located walking distance between Las Palmas and Quepos.

Club Banana - My guests went on a week-end and said - We went to Club Banana for karaoke (what a riot!) Best Tico Atmosphere - in the Zona Americana, East of the Marina.

If you like their music, you may want to purchase their CD's from the Local Artists. They also make great gifts.
